Recap: Shayna Parker's Artist Talk

The exhibiting artist's words at the Midshow Reception.

Yesterday we had the midshow reception for “Pushing Up Daisies” and our third artist talk of the year.

Shayna Parker, the exhibiting artist for May and June, talked for about an hour. Among other things, Shayna discussed her background in scenic painting, her creative process, and some of the moments that led to her exhibit.

It was a great turnout! Thank you to everyone who came out.

Check out the recording above if you’re interested in listening. The video includes slideshow images and a Q&A from the audience. We encourage you to listen to it as you would a podcast—you can also see a livestreamed version on our Instagram.

After the talk ended, Crystal Murphy pulled out her ukelele and started playing “chick music” as per Shayna’s request. Crystal is a local business owner, music teacher, and friend of Shayna’s.

She started playing her ukelele inside but soon transitioned outside when one of the kids requested it. Shayna’s husband, Jimmy, joined in and added some harmonies to a couple of songs (evidence below). It was a good time!

Reminder…

“Pushing Up Daisies” is on display until June 28th. Stop by on Sundays from 12pm to 3pm to see the exhibit in person. Grab a sneak peek on the gallery shop.
