Daily Reflection
This week we would like to address the importance of daily reflection and how it can greatly improve your quality of life. In today’s fast paced world, it seems nearly impossible to manage all the challenges of being Human. Dedicate a few minutes each day to sit in silence and realize just how special you really are.
When we allow ourselves to briefly detach from our responsibilities, it becomes apparent just how much is happening around us. Whether you are at your desk listening to the buzz of business or appreciating the rustle of leaves activated by the gentle breeze while on a walk - mindful focus illuminates these details.
Dragonflies Unite
A few weeks ago, the Longview Farm provided sanctuary to the group Dragonflies Unite for their monthly meeting. Patrick Seyler directed the participants through the trails of the nearby forest into an open expanse where we witnessed the setting sun. To conclude the evening, we sat in the safety of the Longview Farm barn for a moment of silence and reflection.
Cultivating happens on the Earth and in the garden of our hearts. There’s a reason why the words earth and heart use the same letters. - Patrick Seyler
Participation is Key
As a biologist and lover of Nature, it has become a standard practice to spend at least 5 minutes a day in the outdoors. Of course, some days might bring with it rain, snow, or blazing heat…still I focus my attention on the present moment. Those sacred periods of contemplation ground me and remind me of my place in the Universe. Remember, participation with Nature requires active focus. Enjoy!
Let us develop respect for all living things. Let us try to replace violence and intolerance with understanding and compassion. And love. - Jane Goodall

Back at the Family Farm
We took advantage of the beautiful weather this week to get outside as a family and enjoy the small joys that farm life has to offer us.

Signs of Autumn
Some late season flowers, grasses and seedlings are visual signs that summer is ending and autumn has arrived here at the farm. Can you identify these plants?

We encourage you to get outdoors this coming week and enjoy the amazing transition from Summer to Fall in your neighborhoods, parks, and favorite hiking spots. Know that you can always head on up to Longview Farm and visit our gallery and walk among the grasses and forest. We hope to see you soon!
Until next time, stay alive and visit Longview Farm!
