☆ As part of the Gallery’s Year of Yin theme, we are working with artists to create programming around their exhibits.
On the evening of Saturday, June 7th, we will host a special midshow reception at the Longview Gallery. For those who are not familiar, our midshow receptions happen at the halfway point of an artist’s two-month exhibit with us. We celebrate with live music from local talent.
This upcoming reception is going to feature an Artist Talk in addition to music!
Exhibiting artist, Shayna Parker, will discuss the process behind Pushing Up Daisies and its inspirations, as well as her artist practice and techniques.
Through “Pushing Up Daisies,” Shayna explores themes of motherhood and postpartum grief, self (re)discovery, and evolution.
In many ways, this show is about death—but more so about what follows: life, transformation, and rebirth.
This is our third artist talk of the year—you can view the other recorded talks by visiting our recent blog posts. We’re continuing our collaboration with Lisa Huebner from the Women’s & Gender Studies Collection. The artist talks present an opportunity to participate in conversation and community.
