Kami | Interpreting the Beauty of Nature Through 3 Generations
Join us on July 5th for our next opening reception!
You’re invited to a very special exhibit opening on Saturday, July 5th at the Longview Gallery.
The exhibit, “Kami: Interpreting the Beauty of Nature Through 3 Generations,” is a multigenerational show celebrating creative women who are distinct yet interconnected artists.
The backstory begins with Kiya Nicole—a multi-talented artist with a focus in ceramic sculpture and fine art vessels.
She is very active in the local art/craft market scene. Most weekends, you can find her vending somewhere in Chester County or beyond. She also teaches a weekly pottery class at Historic Yellow Springs.
Kiya Nicole comes from a Japanese ancestral line of female artists—her mother, Miho Kahn, and grandmother, Eiko, are including their work in this exhibit.
About The Artists
Kiya Nicole creates intuitively, allowing the tactile experience to guide her as she works. This process becomes a meditation on sensation and memory. She explores the cyclical nature of interconnection, the body, and personal growth.

By infusing the intricacies of the natural world into her work, Kiya considers the connection she has to her surroundings. She uses art to ground her and guide her through processing both trauma and beauty.
Like her daughter, Miho Kahn is a multi-talented individual.
She flows between the labels of fine artist, performer, writer, environmental artist, and interior designer. Notably, she has an award-winning short film titled To the Wood (2021), for which she was writer, director, producer, and puppet-crafter. Motifs of nature and spirituality can be seen throughout Miho’s work.
Eiko is Kiya's grandmother, Miho’s mother, and a talented visual artist herself.
She immigrated to the United States as a young adult and has exhibited her paintings in New Jersey and New York. During her career, the primary mediums she worked with were watercolor and tempera paint.
Additionally, Eiko’s late mother was a creative. She taught Ikebana, the ancient Japanese art of flower arranging.
Between the three artists, this exhibit will be multifaceted, including 2D work, video, ceramics, natural sculptures, and more.
“Kami: Interpreting the Beauty of Nature Through 3 Generations” will be on display at the Longview Gallery for two months, from July 5th to August 30th.
