The Longview Gallery’s next opening reception is on Saturday, March 1st. The solo exhibit is “Wildflower Joy” by Raven George.
Raven George is a conceptual visual artist based in Trenton who explores a range of styles, with oil and ink being the chosen medium. Inspired by the landscapes of her childhood, the intricacy of human experiences, and spirituality, George often reflects on shared vulnerability—the universal thread that connects us.
Raven George explores the intersections of art, humanity, and activism, aiming to elevate voices and experiences that are often unheard. Through art, she found her own voice and expression.
In addition to pursuing art full-time, George facilitates creative workshops that empower students to utilize art as self-expression and promoting personal and collective healing. Some of those places include Sprout U School of Arts, Artworks Trenton, and Princeton University.
“As a woman of color who utilizes art as a tool, it is imperative to be a reflective mirror for viewers to come home to themselves and look inward.”
Her solo exhibit "Wildflower Joy" will explore themes related to childhood innocence and the raw emotions that shape our earliest experiences with connection and affection. Their resilience in the face of violent circumstances, reflecting on conflict zones.
“Wildflower Joy” will be on display at the Longview Gallery from March 1st to April 26th. Open Houses occur every Sunday from 12-3pm. Appointments can be made throughout the week to visit the gallery here.
“Wildflowers [like children] are a powerful symbol of resilience—the ability to thrive in the most boundless and difficult conditions, yet vulnerable to uprooting.”
OPENING RECEPTION | March 1st from 5-8 PM
If you cannot make it to the opening, mark your calendars for the 1st Saturday in April. We will have a Midshow Reception on April 5th with live music! Furthermore, stay tuned as we plan an Artist Talk toward the end of the show.
See you soon xx
