Longview Farm’s last solo exhibition of 2026 is opening THIS Saturday!
Nilanjan Bhowmik (Earthen Creed) is a multimedia artist and metalsmith based in Chester County whose work explores the intersections of industrial nostalgia, imagination, and contemporary craftsmanship.
Bhowmik’s artistic journey began in 2016 by experimenting with antique watch parts, keys, metal fragments, and found objects. These experiments gradually evolved into wearable art and sculptural jewelry.
His practice embraces the steampunk aesthetic, transforming salvaged mechanical components and everyday objects into intricate works that invite curiosity.
“In my late thirties, I began collecting antique industrial and mechanical objects made in the United States. I was fascinated by their craftsmanship, age, patina, and the stories they seemed to hold. I started arranging these objects into compositions, imagining what they could become beyond their original purpose.”
Some of the recurring materials you’ll find in Bhowmik’s work are silver, brass, copper, watch parts, keys, and gears. He combines traditional metalsmith techniques—fold forming, soldering, riveting, stamping, patination—with imaginative storytelling.
His dual career as a software architect and engineer has informed his artistic exploration as well. “Technology has taught me to think about systems, structures, relationships, and problem-solving.”
Nilanjan Bhowmik’s art has been featured in many local galleries and exhibitions, and Longview Farm is thrilled to present this solo exhibition.
At the heart of Forged Imagination is a dialogue between past and future, function and fantasy, technology and art.
Used objects that have already lived one life are revitalized and placed into a story. Their significance becomes more than their intended functional purpose.
