You’re invited to view our next exhibit at its opening reception on Saturday, September 6th.
We are about one month out from inaugurating our next exhibit—the Longview Gallery’s 2nd group exhibit! Following Kami: Interpreting the Beauty of Nature Through 3 Generations—a family exhibit of 3 generations—Triple Vision is an exhibit among close friends.
The title is fitting, as each artist’s work is unique in its visual impact and emotional appeal. Three different “visions,” but when placing their work alongside each other, the subtle connections emerge.
Each of us takes a distinctly different approach to artmaking, but there are some common threads: we are not bound by rules or realism.

Where it Began
Barbara Shelly, Laurie Murray, and Denise Sedor met ten years ago in Kassem Amoudi’s art class at the Wayne Art Center. Barbara was just beginning her career, while Laurie and Denise were already established. They instantly clicked, supporting each other in class, and sharing resources and ideas.
Some years later, the three artists collaborated for Women's History Art Month (WHAM), an 18-woman show on the Upper West Side in 2020.
Laurie and Barbara are the founders of ArtSpeak Collective, a YouTube program established during the pandemic, as well as founders of Pictor gallery in New York City's Chelsea district.
I am very excited to be showing together again, as our work is constantly growing and evolving. We will bring a full sensory experience through our varied textures, colors, and paint applications, in the hope of evoking many different emotions.

About The Artists
Barbara Shelly is a self-taught mixed media artist who literally and figuratively tears through print media.
She layers her findings into textured collages using sketches, newspaper, ink, and paint. One of her preferred publications is The New Yorker.
Barbara Shelly’s creative instincts place the images on the canvas, covering some for texture and highlighting others. The intentional/unintentional relationships between the subjects emerge in the finished work, leaving room for viewer interpretation.
Barbara is also a dancer! Her love of the performing arts has been rewarded by subjects like Spike Lee and Stella Abrera of the American Ballet Theatre.

As an architecturally trained interior designer, Laurie Lamont Murray's abstract paintings and metal sculptures reach beyond traditional limits.
With steel or canvas, whether 2D or 3D, Laurie creates a conversation between shape and color, layers and line. Her art is recognized by its geometric element and strong sense of design.
Laurie Murray is best known for her abstract 2D work but enjoys creating portraits and landscapes as well. She exhibits her work in galleries throughout the Greater Philadelphia area.
In addition to this upcoming show at the Longview Gallery, Laurie Murray will have a solo show at Pictor Gallery in October! Stop by if you’re in New York.
Denise Sedor is an abstract expressionist painter whose primary medium is oil; however, she enjoys experimentation.
Denise's work varies in subject matter among landscapes, portraits, figures, and still life, incorporating much layering and texture throughout. She likes to keep things interesting for collectors and galleries.
Denise Sedor’s portraits have an almost eerie quality to them that is mesmerizing. We look forward to seeing these alongside Barbara’s textured collages and Laurie’s geometric designs.
Denise has studied under prestigious, award-winning artists both locally and abroad. She exhibits in galleries and art associations across Pennsylvania and New York.
“Triple Vision” will be on display at the Longview Gallery for seven weeks, from September 6th to October 25th.
OPENING RECEPTION | Saturday, September 6th, 5pm to 8pm | RSVP here!
If you can’t make it to the opening, mark your calendars for the 1st Saturday in October—we will have live music for the exhibit’s Midshow Reception.
We are delighted to host this collection of work and look forward to sharing it with you in September!
In the meantime, visit us THIS month to view the current exhibit, “Kami” before it goes away. It is a beautiful, intergenerational show celebrating 3 talented female artists.
