Welcome back to Longview Alive—Week Two!
I'm your host, Jessi Stead, an amateur nature walker with a deep love for exploring the world around me.
In this series, I take you through a week's worth of walks in nature here at Longview Farm, where my family lives and works.
This Week
Feeling inspired by the beautiful lilies I received on Mother’s Day, I pulled out a chalk pastel set and board. Before long, the whole family was gathered in the living room, joyfully coloring in celebration of Lily’s birthday.
This week’s most exciting news? My daughter, Lili, turned two years old! She’s a true farm child thru and thru.
Lili is always eager to play outside, explore, and insist that walking through nature is far more important than grocery shopping or staying inside for lunch.
Farm Life
The farm is full of life this week. The plants in Andrew Snyder’s pots and the flowers for Shayna Parker’s show have been watered once again.
After the rain, the fields have been mowed to keep up with the sudden surge of new growth.
Nature Walks
I managed to catch the deer on camera this time—though I just missed my chance to photograph the butterflies. Enjoy some of my nature photography!
The first wave of spring blossoms is fading, and a new mix of pollen fills the air, oddly contributing to milder allergies than we felt at the start of the season.
Lili may be the one dragging us on walks, but I am definitely the one dragging out our walks to capture the temporary beauty of this moment.
Until Next Week!
I can't wait to share more of this journey with you. Let’s step outside together and see what nature has in store next week!
This is the part where I tell you to visit our shop to support the artists who have entrusted us with their work and to pick up some Longview Farm & Year of Yin 2025 merch if you love what we are doing.
